The route
You cross the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka pass, stop at Ait Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate, follow the Dades Valley and Todra Gorges, then reach the great dunes of Merzouga.
How long does it take?
Three days is the ideal length to enjoy the journey without rushing. Two days is possible to Zagora’s smaller dunes; four days lets you slow down and explore nomad life.
The camel trek and desert camp
At Merzouga you ride camels into the dunes for sunset and spend the night in a comfortable desert camp, with dinner, music and a sunrise over the sand.
